The Minister Replied:
1. There is some naturally occurring fluoride in the water supply in Busselton but the water supply is not artificially fluoridated to the recommended level.
2. There is no specific proposal. However the matter of increasing the fluoride concentration in Busselton drinking water is under discussion.
3. Not applicable.
4.-5. I am advised, no research reporting adverse effects of fluoridation has withstood expert scientific scrutiny. The National Health and Medical Research Council, the World Health Organisation, the United States Public Health Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and many other reputable government and professional agencies endorse fluoridation as safe and effective.
