WORKING HOLIDAY VISAS
502. Ms M. BEARD to the Minister for Tourism:
I refer to the recent review of
Australia's migration system, which included the recommendation to get
rid of the regional incentive for the vital working holiday visa.
(1) Did the Cook
Labor government make a submission to this review to ensure that WA's
voice was heard in Canberra?
(2) Since the
review has been handed to the Minister for Home Affairs, has the minister or
any Cook Labor government minister spoken with Minister O'Neil to
ensure the working holiday visa is not removed?

I thank the member for that
question.
(1)–(2) That
issue is something that the Minister for Training takes up. She regularly asks
the federal government to do what it can to support workers migrating to WA. I understand
that the Minister for Training has raised these issues and continues to push
this issue with the federal government with respect to workers both in regional
WA and in the metropolitan area to ensure that we get as many workers as
possible in key services across the state.
