MANGLES
BAY MARINA
134. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the
minister representing the Minister for Lands:
I refer to the proposed Mangles Bay marina and canal estate,
including the project's public environmental review.
(1) Noting
that the total water body, including marina and canals, will cover up to 15
hectares, does the minister agree that the project is likely to cost more to
build than the $440 million cost of building Elizabeth Quay, which has a 2.7
hectare inlet?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) What is
the estimated cost of wet-excavating 800 000-plus cubic metres of soil, and
soil disposal, during construction of the Mangles Bay marina and canals?
(4) How much
did it cost to excavate and dispose of 150 000 cubic metres of soil during
construction of the inlet at Elizabeth Quay?
(5) How much
public money has been spent on the Mangles Bay marina and canal estate proposal
to date?
