Under Section 36F (2) of the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia Act 1998 , and having regard to the emergency services that are provided under the emergency services Acts in an area of Western Australia, the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, may by notice published in the Gazette - (a) declare that an area is in a prescribed emergency services category; (b) declare that the area to which a declaration under paragraph (a) applies is in a different prescribed emergency services category; or (c) revoke a declaration made under subsection 36F (2). Five emergency services categories for the different kinds of services that are provided under the emergency services Acts have been prescribed in Regulation 6 of the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia Regulations 1988: Boundaries are altered when there is an increase or decrease in the level of service delivery, i.e. the addition of a Career Fire and Rescue Service station or similarly, the closure of a Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service brigade.
