HOSPITALS — INTENSIVE CARE UNIT BEDS
614. Ms L. METTAM to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question.
Given the report also points to the patient risk of relying on surge capacity,
what faith can the people of Western Australia have that we can manage a COVID-19
outbreak, given that we already do not have the required ICU beds or the staff
to operate them?

I do not know why the opposition
continues to try to undermine the confidence of the Western Australian people
in dealing with COVID. I could walk out of this building today and find what
the person on the street—the member could come with me; we could go and
have a chat with them—would say when we asked, ''Do you think
the government of Western Australia has done a good job of keeping you safe so
far?''
Ms L. Mettam interjected.
Mr R.H. COOK : I bet on your
life, member, that we would find that that member of the public would say, ''I
have confidence in the government of Western Australia to keep us safe. I have
confidence in the hospital system to keep us safe, because it did so in 2020.
It will continue to do so in 2021 and beyond.''
The SPEAKER : The member for
Collie–Preston.
Mr D.J. Kelly interjected.
The SPEAKER : Sorry,
minister. I am trying to give the call to the member for Collie–Preston.
