I refer to question without notice
806 asked on 13 August 2019 about the lithium rail supply chain.
(1) Has the second stage of the
pre-feasibility work and business case been completed; and —
(a) if no, when will this be
completed;
(b) if yes, has the department assessed the viability
of the proposal; and, if so, what was the outcome; and
(c) if no to
(1)(b), when will the department complete its assessment?
(2) Will the minister please table a current consolidated
copy of the lease to Arc Infrastructure; and —
(a) if not, why not;
(b) if it is due to commercial-in-confidence reasons,
will the minister please table a redacted copy; and
(c) if no to
(2)(b), why not?

question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for
Transport. I note that this question was asked on 20 May. The answer is current
as of that date.
(1) The
project proponents have completed the pre-feasibility study and are now
undertaking a full feasibility study and detailed design. The Department of
Transport will consider the outcome of this process.
(2) The Rail
Freight Corridor Land Use Agreement (Narrow Gauge) and Railway Infrastructure
Lease was tabled in Parliament in 2014 as part of the Economics and Industry
Standing Committee's inquiry into the management of Western Australia's
freight rail network.
