TOW TRUCK PLATES
30. Hon RICK MAZZA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the Minister for
Transport's media release of 10 December 2019 regarding new regulations
to lift the standards of the WA towing industry and advising —
All tow trucks are to be fitted with number plates identifying it
as being a licensed tow truck
(1) How many tow truck plates does
the minister propose to make available?
(2) Will the
plates be issued for a fee as per the licensing of other classes of vehicles or
will they be available for purchase under some other arrangement?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Transport.
(1) The
Department of Transport will release as many plates as required, depending on
the number of licensed tow trucks on the licensing register.
(2) Tow truck plates will be issued at the prescribed
fee for ordinary state plates, which is $27.70 as at 2019–20. These plates will be available for issue only to a licensed tow truck.
