(1)-(2) The number of people that took practical driving assessments (PDAs) in 2009 was 84 991.Of these people -
50.3 per cent passed on the first attempt.
28.1 per cent passed on the second attempt.
11.8 per cent passed on the third attempt.
5.3 per cent passed on the fourth attempt.
4.5 per cent passed on a subsequent attempt.
The total number of PDA tests for all classes of licence (C, HC, HR, LR, MC, MR and R) conducted in 2009 was 126 685.This number includes first, second, third and subsequent attempts by individuals.
The following table indicates the number of people who undertook a PDA at a particular Licensing Centre in 2009, and passed on their first or second attempt at that particular Centre.

(3)-(4) The current Licensing database is a client based system.  This primarily records on an individual record and not on a particular licensing centre.  Information on parts (3)-(4) is not available.  I am advised that providing the additional information would require excessive staff resources.  However, should the member require specific information, she may request it through my office or by a further question.
