These
figures reflect only what was provided through the Department of Education's
staffing allocation.
The previous
allocation for Aboriginal and Islander education officers was based on an
outdated formula that provided a different level of support depending on the
year level of the student. Under the new arrangements, the multiplier has been
altered so that Aboriginal students receive the same level of education
assistant support regardless of their year level. While there have been
reductions in the total number of Aboriginal and Islander education officers,
every Aboriginal student will still receive an appropriate and consistent level
of education assistant support.
