MINISTER FOR ENVIRONMENT —
STANDING COMMITTEE ONESTIMATES AND FINANCIAL OPERATIONS — PERSONAL
EXPLANATION
994. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the statement by the
Minister for Environment on 22 August 2019 on behalf of the Minister for Police
in which it was revealed that the multi-agency protocols for education options
for young people charged with sexual behaviours contains at least one statement
that, whilst correct when first created in 2017, is now incorrect.
(1) When will the
protocols be revised to bring them in line with WA police's more
contemporary view?
(2) Will the minister table the
updated protocols once they are revised?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
The protocols were put in place
under the McGowan government to enhance the safety and wellbeing of students in
school. The previous Liberal–National government had no such
arrangement in place.
(1) The
Department of Education continues to have discussions with the other relevant
agencies to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the protocols.
(2) Not applicable.
