On behalf of the Minister for Small Business, I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2)
In 2013–14, the Small Business Development Corporation conducted a
review of the small business centre program as part of its normal review
process to ensure services to small business in WA remain relevant and
cost-effective. The review was independent and resulted in a number of
important recommendations, including using an open tender process to identify
the best possible service providers.
The Department of Finance is
conducting a procurement process independent of the Small Business Development
Corporation that will conclude shortly.
The 12 service areas reflect the
nine Regional Development Commission boundaries, plus three metropolitan
service areas aligned with the northern, southern and eastern corridors.
