I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
social housing economic recovery package announced by the Premier on 7 June
2020 will deliver approximately 250 new
builds and off-the-plan construction-ready purchases across metropolitan and regional
areas. It is intended that approximately 30 per cent of new builds will be in
regional Western Australia. Land asset identification and allocation is
underway and sites will be determined over the coming months.
(3)–(4) In
addition to construction materials and methods, significant consideration will
be given to broader design aspects of each property, such as solar orientation,
as is the case with all new properties delivered by the Department of Communities.
All new homes will meet the Australian building codes and standards, including
the six-star nationwide house energy rating scheme.
