To the Minister for Transport, I ask: (a) what is the annual average fare for a return flight from the following destinations in regional WA to Perth: (i) Albany; (ii) Carnarvon; (iii) Esperance; (iv) Laverton Leinster; (v) Leonora; (vi) Meekatharra; (vii) Monkey Mia; (viii) Mount Magnet; (ix) Wiluna; (x) Kalgoorlie; (xi) Exmouth; (xii) Geraldton; (xiii) Paraburdoo; (xiv) Newman; (xv) Onslow; (xvi) Broome; (xvii) Kununurra; (xviii) Port Hedland; and (xix) Karratha; (b) what is the number of charter flights that have arrived and departed from each individual regional airport as listed above in (a) for the 12 month period ending 31 October 2018; (c) what is the number of arrival and departure passengers for each individual regional airport as listed above in (a) for the 12 month period ending 31 October 2018; and (d) what are the landing fees for each individual regional airport as listed above in (a) for the 12 month period ending 31 October 2018 also provide any increase in landing fees during that period and the amount and date of any increases?

(a) The Department of Transport (DoT) does not currently receive annual average airfare data on unregulated regular public transport (RPT) routes, however DoT has been engaging with airlines as part of the implementation of the Government’s response to the Perceptions and Realities of Regional Airfare Prices in Western Australia inquiry. Annual average one-way fares on regulated RPT air routes over the 2017-18 financial year are as follows:
Albany - $217; Carnarvon - $361.41; Esperance - $244; Laverton - $379.21; Leonora - $351.81; Meekatharra - $353.57; Monkey Mia - $315.29; Mount Magnet - $312.16; Wiluna - $409.39
(b) The following closed charter flights have been reported by charter airlines to the State Government as at 31 October 2018:
Perth - Albany – 2 services per week; Carnarvon – 0; Esperance – 0; Perth – Laverton – 4 services per week; Perth – Leinster – 10 services per week; Perth - Leonora – 6 services per week; Perth - Meekatharra – 4 services per week; Monkey Mia – 0; Perth - Mount Magnet – 2 services per week; Perth - Wiluna – 2 services per week; Perth - Kalgoorlie – 2 services per week; Exmouth (Learmonth) – 0; Geraldton – 0; Paraburdoo – 0; Perth - Newman – 2 services per week; Perth - Onslow – 6 services per week; Broome – 0; Kununurra – 0; Perth - Port Hedland – 3 services per week; Perth - Karratha – 1 service per week
(c) Passenger numbers on the regulated RPT air routes are as follows:
Albany – 59,990; Carnarvon – 19,434; Esperance – 51,143; Laverton – 6,197; Leonora – 6,277; Meekatharra – 3,709; Monkey Mia – 3,644; Mount Magnet – 1,684; Wiluna – 2,534
(d) Landing fees at regional airports in WA are set and managed by the respective regional airport owners. Airport fees, including landing fees are not regulated by the State Government and there is no mandate to report such landing fees.
