(1) A new Domestic Violence Outreach Program in the Pilbara region provides support to break the cycle of family and domestic violence and prevents women and children becoming homeless following domestic violence.
In addition a Domestic Violence Case Management and Coordination Service is being established in the Pilbara to provide support for agencies to monitor and manage domestic violence cases through integrated case management.
(2) The Department for Child Protection currently provides total funding of approximately $2.5 million for the following domestic violence and family breakdown emergency accommodation services in the Pilbara:
·       Hedland Women's Refuge;
·       Newman Women's Refuge;
·       Salvation Army Karratha Women's Refuge;
·       Munga Tharndu Maya Women's Refuge (Roebourne);
·       Onslow Family and Domestic Violence Service;
·       Karratha Youth Accommodation Service; and
·       Youth Accommodation Program in South Hedland
There are currently no plans to provide additional emergency accommodation in the Pilbara.
