I thank the member for some notice of this question. The answer is dated 12 June, but I do not believe there have been any changes since then. (1) The senior executive service is restricted to officers above level 8, unless prescribed under section 43 of the Public Sector Management Act. (2) As at 12 June 2001, there were 422 members of the senior executive service. (3) Chief executive officers were advised by letter on 3 May 2001 of the offer of management-initiated retirement packages being extended to all chief executive officers and members of the senior executive service. In addition to this letter, members of the senior executive service were sent an e-mail on the SES mail service which provided information on the management-initiated retirement packages.
