I thank the member for that question.
(1)–(3) As
the member would be aware, last year we undertook a post-amalgamation review
into the Southern Port Authority because of the issues that had been raised
about the organisational culture in that agency. Together with that, a number
of WorkSafe investigations were undertaken, and we have seen some of those
reports. There is no doubt that there are organisational issues within the
Southern Port Authority. The review outlined a number of different action
points that we are going to deliver and that we are in the process of
delivering. One of those, of course, includes the appointment of a general
manager at the Albany port. In relation to the comments of the acting CEO, in a
sense he has been thrown into the deep end in trying to manage the restructure
of an agency that has some organisational problems, but we are working with the
port and with the board to try to make sure that the workers in that port feel
safe and have a future, both in Esperance and Albany. We are working very, very
hard to make sure—including making decisions like we did with Cleveland–Cliffs—that
there is future work for the workers and, in particular, that it is a safe
environment.
