Sexual assault—Legislative reform
446. Hon Nick Goiran to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Treasurer:
I refer to the
Legislative Assembly budget estimates hearing on 20 May 2026, when the Treasurer
revealed that the state may need to "examine changes to legislation to
allow an easier settlement process" for survivors of historical child
sexual abuse arising from issues identified during the Dion Barber litigation,
handled by the Insurance Commission of Western Australia.
(1) On what date was the Treasurer first
briefed that legislative reform may need to be considered?
(2) Has the Treasurer received any
documents regarding such changes?
(3) If yes to (2), will the Treasurer
table them?
(4) If no to (3), why not?
