FREMANTLE
PORTS — PRIVATISATION
397. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I refer to the Premier breaking his promise not to sell
Fremantle port.
(1) Why has the Premier broken that promise?
(2) On what grounds has the Premier broken that promise?

(1)–(2)
Certainly I have said previously that we would not be selling utilities or
ports. However, if the Leader of the Opposition waits for one hour, the
Treasurer will outline a list of assets that the government is considering for
privatisation.
Ms M.M. Quirk interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Girrawheen!
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
Some of these assets, when members see them, may be quite simple to sell;
others would be more complex and may take some time. But I am not going to
respond on the budget until the budget is delivered.
