Apprentices—Child safety framework
533. Hon Nick Goiran to
the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for Skills and TAFE:
I refer to the
regulation of workplace training for apprentices under the age of 18.
(1) Has the minister received any concerns about
the regulatory child safety framework for apprentices who are under 18 years of
age?
(2) Is the minister aware of any apprenticeship
grants being awarded to employers with criminal convictions for child sex
offences or other offences against children?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the Leader
of the Opposition for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The minister has not been made
aware of any concerns related to these matters. The state government is aware
of some concerns regarding the scope of the working with children scheme and
the definition of child-related work. A consultation paper on phase 2 working
with children check reforms will be released later this year.
