Staff, cars, mobile telephones, home telephones, home fax machines and Government credit cards are provided to Ministerial Offices and the Office of the Premier on a needs basis. The needs are assessed by the relevant Minister and Chief of Staff. This is the same arrangement that applied under the Coalition Government prior to February 2001. The differences between the current arrangements and those that applied under the previous Government are that there are 30 fewer cars provided to the offices, generating savings of some $300,000 p.a. and there are 3 fewer Ministerial offices, generating savings of $3,465 million p.a.
