SOCIAL AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING INVESTMENT FUND
846. Hon STEVE MARTIN to the minister representing the Minister
for Housing:
I refer to the newly renamed social and affordable housing
investment fund.
(1) Noting a diversity in responses from members of
the government on this topic, what is the official definition of ''affordable
housing''?
(2) What current affordable housing projects are being
delivered with SAHIF money?
(3) In relation to (2), how many homes are being delivered?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Housing.
(1) Housing is
generally considered affordable if the cost of housing is no more than 30 per
cent of a low-to-moderate-income household's gross income.
(2)–(3) The social and affordable housing investment fund
investment will be allocated across a range of initiatives and announced in due course. Funding has also been
allocated in the 2024–25 state budget for the purchase of
expiring national rental affordability scheme properties.
