OAKAJEE INDUSTRIAL ESTATE
883. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. If
the Premier was so concerned by the lack of progress eight years ago, why is
the area still an overgrown paddock today?

AnswerView source ↗

The member clearly did not hear me
say that we are actually already constructing the access and other transport
corridors into that strategic industrial area. I acknowledge and thank the
member for Geraldton for the incredible work
that she has done advocating on behalf of this, and I also particularly
acknowledge the member for Swan Hills , my parliamentary secretary, who
has done a great deal of work, working with industry in the area to understand
what the opportunities are for not only international capital and large
proponents to come to the area, but also local companies to take advantage of
the renewable energy future. This will create thousands of jobs in Geraldton
alone. That is what the member for Geraldton is looking to create. That is part
of her vision for the area as we move to a renewable energy future and as we
take advantage of the opportunities that a vision for a government around its
clean energy plan can provide for Western Australian jobs, particularly in the
Geraldton area.
