I have accepted Hon Norman Moore’s apology. I accept his assurance that he will not have any dealings with Noel Crichton-Browne in his portfolio or his parliamentary role. All Hon Norman Moore did was resubmit a petition from a member of the public. That petition seeks some redress to comments made by Labor Party members in the upper house. As a citizen, he is entitled to that. In saying that, I in no way excuse the behaviour of Noel Crichton-Browne or endorse his conduct. I accept Hon Norman Moore’s assurance that he will have no dealings with Mr Crichton-Browne in either his portfolio or his parliamentary role. Mr M. McGowan : What about other portfolios and what about business of government? Mr C.J. BARNETT : I am talking about all portfolios. Please may I say to all members in this house and in the other house, whether they be Labor, Liberal, National, Independent, Greens or whatever, that one of the reasons the people of Western Australia voted as they did—knowing that would result in me being Premier—was that I promised the people of this state that I would provide good government. An opposition member: How is the ego? Mr C.J. BARNETT : Yes. I promised that I and my colleagues would provide good, honest government and government of integrity. While the member may interject, when I make that comment about good government, honesty and integrity I mean it. It is a message to every member in this house and the other house. The SPEAKER : I inform members that I have given permission for a photographer from The West Australian to take photographs during question time for the first 10 minutes of every day of question time.
