MANDURAH JUNCTION — TREES
885. Hon SALLY
TALBOT to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for
Lands:
I refer to the Mandurah Junction
development.
(1) In the
minister's answer to question without notice 804 on 18 October 2012, he
informed the house that five trees were damaged by the civil works contractor.
What penalties have been applied to the contractor in relation to the removal
of these trees?
(2) Has LandCorp
applied any other penalties to any other contractor for the unauthorised
removal of trees; and, if so, what was the penalty, and how many trees were
involved?
(3) What
compliance monitoring does LandCorp undertake to ensure that Environment
Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act conditions are met; who carries
out LandCorp's compliance monitoring; and how often and at what stages
of the project is this compliance monitoring undertaken?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The minister has provided the following response —
(1)–(2)
The contract allows for retention of up to $10 000 a tree. LandCorp, on the
advice of the superintendent, will apply the provisions of the contract.
(3) LandCorp
is responsible for compliance and monitoring, and does so in accordance with
the environmental approvals.
