Answers (a)-(f) are for primary teachers including kindergarten, pre-primary and education support teachers up to Year 6.
Answers (g)-(l) are for secondary teachers from Year 7 to Year 12.
Answers are collated for primary and secondary because principals at each school determine the allocation of teacher time for each year group based on individual school requirements and teachers are not limited to teaching one particular year group, particularly in middle and upper school. To provide teaching time allocated to each year group, timetable information would need to be obtained from each school site to determine the exact teaching load for each individual teacher.
(a) - (f) 164; 1.1%
(g) - (l) 65; 0.9%
Only classroom teachers are included, noting that Deputy Principals and other administrator positions may undertake classroom teaching. Teachers are counted only once in each category, unless they work in both primary and secondary, in which case they are counted once in each. Relief teachers are not included. School teacher numbers are still being finalised for the 2018 school year. Figures are based on Workforce Planning data extracted from the Department of Education’s human resources management system, HRMIS.
