1234. Hon KATE DOUST to the
Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the Premier's comments this week in
relation to the construction deferral of the Chevron building at Elizabeth Quay,
when he said —
Yes I've agreed to it, I
agreed to it some months ago,
(1) How and by whom was the Premier made aware of Chevron's
move towards construction deferral?
(2) On what exact date did the Premier agree to it?
(3) On what
date did the Premier inform the Minister for Planning and/or the Metropolitan
Redevelopment Authority?
(4) What are the new key milestone dates in relation to —
(a) development application
submission;
(b) construction commencement; and
(c) practical completion?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The
Premier's chief of staff advised the Premier in the first week of July
2015 that he had met with Chevron, which advised it may be approaching the MRA
to seek a two-year deferral to the commencement date of the building of its
Elizabeth Quay head office.
(2) On 28 July
2015 the Premier spoke by telephone with Roy Krzywosinski, the managing
director of Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, at which time the Premier advised that
should Chevron wish to seek an extension, it should approach the MRA to request
a variation to the development agreement.
(3) Discussions
on this matter have been underway for some time, and both the Premier and
Minister for Planning have been aware of these discussions.
(4) The MRA
will complete negotiations with Chevron Australia to prepare an amending deed
that will be presented to the MRA board that will also address matters
regarding site presentation and activation during the two-year deferral period.
