URGENT CARE CLINICS
525. Ms M.J. DAVIES to the Minister for Health:
On behalf of the member for Roe, I start
by acknowledging the previous member for Eyre, Dr Graham Jacobs, who is in the
chamber.
I refer to the minister's
answer to my question yesterday regarding Labor's election promise to
deliver urgent care clinics in the seats of Geraldton, Albany, Bunbury,
Kalgoorlie, Pilbara and Kimberley.
(1) Given that
the minister said yesterday that he was making progress on that election
commitment, will he today outline the progress made in each of the regional
seats in which he promised an urgent care clinic?
(2) Can the
minister confirm whether there will be urgent care clinics on the ground in the
seats of Geraldton, Albany, Bunbury, Kalgoorlie, Pilbara and Kimberley before
the 2021 election?

(1)–(2) The
member is of course quite correct. We are working hard to put patients first.
It is one of the commitments from the McGowan government. We are working
diligently with the WA Primary Health Alliance and other primary health
stakeholders to ensure that we have a system in place that means that patients
have an alternative to going to the local emergency department. We will be
making some announcements about that shortly. I will be very happy to brief the
member fully when those details are ready to be published.
