CRIMINAL PROPERTY CONFISCATION ACT — MARTIN
REVIEW — RECOMMENDATIONS
600. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
My question is from 17 May. I refer to the progress of legal
reform in Western Australia.
(1) Four years
on from the review into the Criminal Property Confiscation Act 2000, completed
by the former Chief Justice Hon Wayne Martin at the Attorney General's
request, can the Attorney advise which of any of the resulting sixty-four
recommendations he or his government might be inclined to support?
(2) If the
Attorney is not presently in a position to answer the above, might he indicate
when the government will make clear its position?

I thank the member for some
notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the
Attorney General and was correct at the time of signing by the Attorney
General on 29 May.
(1)–(2)
The review report is being carefully considered, and any further action will be
the subject of consideration by cabinet.
