(1)-(3) This is being considered within the Department of Health.
Public screening is conducted at several metropolitan sites. In addition, screening is privately available - the Telethon Infant Speech and Hearing Centre, a non-government organisation, coordinates the WA Infant Screening for Hearing (WISH) program at six private hospitals, including St John of God in Bunbury.
(4) The Australian Standard benchmark for waiting times for elective surgery is less than 30 days for Category 1 (urgent cases), 90 days for Category 2 (semi?urgent) and 365 days for Category 3 (non urgent).
As of 16 November 2007, there were no patients waiting for elective otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in Category 1 or Category 2 at Bunbury Hospital. For Category 3 (non urgent) elective otolaryngology-head and neck surgery patients at Bunbury Hospital, the median waiting time was 104 days.
(5) As of 16 November 2007, there were no patients waiting for elective otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in Category 1 or Category 2 at Bunbury Hospital. The median waiting time for children requiring elective otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Bunbury Hospital, Category 3, was 103 days.
(6) As of 16 November 2007, the median waiting time for all elective surgery at Bunbury Hospital was 66 days.
