I refer to the Minister for Racing and Gaming’s media statement of 4 August 2010 in relation to liquor restrictions in Aboriginal communities, and ask:
(a) what extra services falling within the Minister’s portfolio, and over and above those in place prior to the establishment of liquor restrictions, will be put in place in these three communities to ensure their underlying problems are addressed;
(b) what extra services, over and above those in place prior to the establishment of liquor restrictions, have been put in place in the other restricted communities in Western Australia; and
(c) if no extra services have been put in place, why not?

(a) Nil, no new services.
(b) Nil, no new services.
(c) The services delivered prior to the communities being subject to liquor restrictions and currently being delivered are deemed to be effective and meet community needs. The services are as follows:
· The Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) provides funding support and advice to a Kimberly based not for profit aboriginal sport and recreation organisation - Garnduwa Amboorynu Wirnan for the delivery of sports programs in the Kimberly. This funding support provides three Indigenous Sport Development Officers to run and coordinate activities as well as subsidising on programming costs.
· DSR, under agreement with Newcrest Mining Limited provides ongoing support to communities in the Western Desert (including Jigalong) by way of funding support for two Indigenous Sport Development Officers, to run and coordinate activities as well as subsidising on programming costs.
