The Minister for Environment has provided the following response.
On 14 July 2016 the Department of Parks and Wildlife offered the Member a briefing on the project to enable her to ask any questions in relation to the project. The Member has yet to accept that offer.
(1)-(2) A site masterplan that shows the planned building development has been made publicly available.
(3) Lots 882, 883 and 460 on which the new Parks and Wildlife headquarters will be built have been investigated. Lot 881 is to be retained by the City of Bunbury.
(4)
(a)-(b) Waves Environmental Pty Ltd - $156,890.40 including the costs set out in question (d), Calytrix Consulting Pty Ltd - $26,145.87 and Jacobs Australia Pty Ltd - $9,253.25.
(c) Contamination identified related predominantly to mineral sands tailings.
(d) The site investigations which are subject to external review have concluded that the site is currently safe for its intended purpose. Some surficial mineral has been removed from the site at total project cost of $56,333 including payments to subcontractors. Additional mineral sands tailings material is likely to be removed to meet engineering specifications. Details of that matter have yet to be finalised or fully costed.
(5) Archaeological investigations have been undertaken in two major tranches. Geomagnetic survey work was undertaken initially followed by close grid water probing. Two magnetic anomalies under the building footprint were excavated and found to be metallic rubbish. Services design is still underway but it is expected that trenches will largely be dug into new fill to be imported to the site as part of construction works.
(6)-(7) The WA Museum is currently addressing the protection of archaeological material on the site.
(8)-(10) Landscape design work has been substantially completed and has been published. A building plan perspective and elevation has been published. Detailed plans of the buildings will be finalised and published in late 2016.
(11)-(13) See answer to question 4(d). The detailed site investigation is currently being independently reviewed and will then be subject to oversight and review by regulatory agencies. The reports will be published when these processes have been completed.
