In relation to all agencies, departments and trading enterprises within the Minister’s portfolio of responsibilities that maintain a register of gifts and benefits offered to employees but not accepted, I ask: (a) how many gifts or benefits have been offered but not accepted since 1 January 2013; and (b) for each gift or benefit offered but not accepted since 1 January 2013: (i) what was the nature of the gift or benefit; (ii) what was the name of the individual or organisation that offered the gift or benefit; (iii) what was the relationship of the employee to the individual or organisation that offered the gift or benefit; and (iv) what was the estimated cost of the offered gift or benefit?

The Department of Mines and Petroleum advises:
(a)
Eight.
(b)
(i)
5 Invitations and 3 Gifts.
(ii)
Invitations offered by KPMG Australia, Action Drill and Blast, Terry Crabb of CGG GravMag Solutions, Hays Recruiting and Rio Tinto.
Gifts offered by GoDirect Group, Fraser Suites and Contractor.
(iii)
KPMG were engaged as external auditors by the Office of the Auditor General. Action Drill and Blast is regulated by DMP. Terry Crabb of CGG GravMag is a professional associate of a DMP employee through the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists. Hays Recruiting was engaged by DMP for Human Resources consulting. Rio Tinto is regulated by DMP. Go Direct Group has no relationship to DMP. Fraser Suites was used by DMP for a planning day. A Contractor was an individual employed by DMP on contract.
(iv)
3 with an estimated value between $100 - $500;
3 with an estimated value between $25 - $100; and
2 with an estimated value under $25.
The Department of Housing advises:
(a)
Eight.
(b)
(i)
6 Invitations, 1 Referral Fee and 1 Gift.
(ii)
Invitations offered by Corrs, Jackson McDonald, Parsons Brinkerhoff, Home Buyers Centre, Lavan Legal and Mrs J. Thompson.
(iii)
Corrs, Jackson McDonald, Lavan Legal were on a panel of law firms approved to provide legal services to the Department. Parsons Brinkerhoff was contracted by the Department to provide essential services in remote communities. The Home Buyers Centre was involved with the Housing Pathways Unit which facilitated a property purchase and was also identified as a potential tenderer. Mrs J. Thompson is the daughter of a deceased public housing tenant.
(iv)
1 with an estimated value of $1000;
3 with an estimated value between $50 - $100; and
4 with an estimated value between $20 - $50.
