This innovative program known as Safe at Home provides a comprehensive and seamless service to women and children escaping domestic violence. Safe at Home provides specialist workers to assess the safety and support needs of women and children to stay in their own home following domestic violence, where it is safe to do so, and provides brokerage funds to stabilise housing and increase security.
(a) The Department for Child Protection and Family Support (the Department) has provided the following funding through the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH) for the Safe at Home Program:
(i) $1,220,000 in 2010-2011;
(ii) $1,497,367 in 2011-2012;
(iii) $1,542,663 in 2012-2013; and
(iv) $1,581,229 in 2013-2014.
(b) The Safe at Home program assisted:
(i) 279 primary clients in 2010-2011;
(ii) 2058 clients in 2011-2012 *;
(iii) 898 clients in 2012-2013; and
(iv) No data available for the 2013-2014 reporting period.
* The high number of clients in 2011-12 is due to data quality issues and was resolved in 2012-13.
