I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(2) The latest forecasts of mining royalty revenue, together with details of the government’s commitment to the royalties for regions scheme, will be fully disclosed in the 2008-09 Government Mid-year Financial Projections Statement , which is required to be released by 31 December 2008. As a guide, however, the most recent forecasts of mining royalty revenue were published in the “Pre-election Financial Projections Statement”, which was released on 16 August 2008. The PFPS estimates of royalty income are as follows: 2008-09, $2 715 million; 2009-10, $2 965 million; 2010-11, $2 936 million; and 2011-12, $2 604 million. No estimate is currently available for 2012-13. On the basis of these “Pre-election Financial Projections Statement” estimates, and assuming a half-year impact in 2008-09, 25 per cent of estimated royalty income over the forward estimates period equates to $2 466 million. However, this figure is indicative only, and updated estimates and details of the royalties for regions scheme will be available in next month’s midyear review.
