(a) The Perth Waterfront Taskforce has consulted with the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC), representing the Noongar People, Aboriginal Elders and other individuals. It has established an Indigenous Cultural Centre Reference Group and a separate Advisory Group which comprises primarily Aboriginal membership. Those consultations have been positive and supportive in establishing that the proposed Indigenous Cultural Centre represents an important opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal culture as part of the Perth Waterfront project. They are initial consultations and should be viewed as part of an ongoing consultative and collaborative process.
(b) It is not considered appropriate to identify specific individuals involved in consultations to date.
(c) Consultations have taken place via meetings with the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council, a workshop and site visit with Aboriginal Elders, and meetings of both the Indigenous Cultural Centre Reference Group and Advisory Group.
(d) SWALSC: 24 November 2009; 30 November 2009
Aboriginal Elders: 30 November 2009
Reference Group: 15 September 2009; 29 September 2009; 28 October 2009; 3 December 2009; 25 February 2010
Advisory Group: 26 October 2009; 1 December 2009 (out of session)
