Given that Bankwest research has found that 40 percent of businesses in Western Australia are being directly impacted by skills shortages, and that there is growing concern that a number of mining projects may not go ahead if a solution to the current labour shortage is not found, I ask -
(1) Why are you dragging your feet on the release of the WA Skilled Migration Strategy, which was due in June last year?
(2) When will the Skilled Migration Strategy be finally delivered?
(3) What advice would you give to employers who are unable to get staff?

(3) Skilling WA - A workforce development plan for Western Australia provides a comprehensive review of the key issues faced by Western Australian employers in recruiting staff. The plan also provides a suite of State Government strategies and actions designed to assist employers to understand and manage these issues. I strongly recommend employers read Skilling WA and work with their industry associations and the Department of Training and Workforce Development to give themselves the best opportunity to maximise employment outcomes.
