My question relates to the answer given to my question on notice 2413 of 19 October 2004. (1) The minister advised me that the Department of Fisheries attended a Coral Coast Parks Advisory Committee meeting to discuss the submission on the indicative Ningaloo marine park plan. Are minutes available to the public? If yes, where can they be found; and, if no, will the minister table these documents in the House? (2) Would the minister please provide the House with the background that surrounds the resignation of three members of the CCPAC, the group that provides advice to the Department of Conservation and Land Management on the Ningaloo marine park? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. When the member read out the question it did not follow word for word the question that I have before me, because the member added some additional words, but in substance it is the same. (1) Yes. I hereby table the minutes of the Coral Coast Parks Advisory Committee meeting of 14-15 March 2004. (2) One member resigned due to personal reasons. One member resigned because the member was from the Carnarvon area and considered that the issues being discussed were outside that member’s interests. One member resigned because of that member’s concerns that the recommendations from the CCPAC were not adequately considered by the Marine Parks and Reserves Authority. [See paper No 2859.]
