In the 2005/06 budget, the Department received an increase in recurrent appropriation of $3,930 million per annum for the operating costs for three additional ministerial offices, and capital works funding of $1.950 million for the construction of three new ministerial office suites. Construction of the third office suite has recently been completed and payment is not yet finalised, however the total cost of construction including the cost of temporary accommodation provided whilst the new offices were constructed is estimated to be $1.511 million. In other operational areas such as ministerial air charter, it is not possible to isolate the increase in costs attributable to the expansion of the Ministry from 14 to 17.
