(2) Covered walkways are not normally provided in new schools. The designs of new schools incorporate verandahs around the various classroom blocks which are located a short distance apart. Covered walkways are relatively expensive to construct, do not provide shelter from wind or driving rain and, in the event of fire, add to the risk of it spreading from one classroom block to another. (3) It is not proposed that covered walkways will be provided for the Geographe Primary School.
