My question was originally addressed to Hon Nick Griffiths, Minister for Government Enterprises. It has been redirected to Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich, Minister for Local Government and Regional Development representing the Minister for the Environment. The first part of the question refers to the Water Corporation. It probably should read the Government. (1) Is the Water Corporation still monitoring the boxes at Nambi Station for the water supply to Murrin Murrin? (2) If not, why not? (3) By how much have the water levels at Nambi Station reduced in the past three years? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The honourable member seems to think that he has thrown in a really big word and I will not be able to pronounce it, but I cannot find it! (1) Bores at Nambi Station provide water for mineral ore processing at Anaconda Nickel Ltd’s Murrin Murrin site. Murrin Murrin Holdings Pty Ltd holds a ground water licence for this purpose. Licence conditions require the licensee to monitor and report ground water levels to the Water and Rivers Commission. The Water Corporation is not involved. (2) See answer to (1). (3) The Department of Environment has advised the Minister for the Environment that it will take some time to review the ground water level reports provided by the licensee in the past three years. The department will undertake to provide the requested information directly to Hon Frank Hough by the end of the year.
