BUNDIYARRA — HOSTEL
770. Hon DARREN WEST to the
Minister for Housing:
I refer to the minister's visit to Bundiyarra on 1 July
this year and the election commitment given to the community in 2013 that
highlighted the support of the National Party to build a 138-room hostel at
Bundiyarra.
(1) Did the
minister discuss this election commitment with the Bundiyarra board?
(2) Was any
commitment given to the board to fund a hostel?
(3) If no to
(2), when will the minister honour the commitment made to Bundiyarra?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1)–(2) No.
(3) Short-stay
facilities for Aboriginal people have been built by this government in
Kalgoorlie and Derby and have been a great success in assisting people in need.
I am very interested in more of these being built in appropriate locations in
regional Western Australia such as Geraldton.
