977. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Leader of the House representing the Minister
for Energy :
I refer to the Pilbara underground power project in Karratha and page
13 of Horizon Power's 2009–10 annual report.
(1) Was the Karratha voltage upgrade of
distribution voltage from 11 kilovolts to 22 kilovolts fiscally part of the
PUPP?
(2) What was the reason for the upgrade of distribution voltage from 11
kilovolts to 22 kilovolts?
(3) If yes to (1), what was the cost of the
provision of the upgrade of the Bulgarra substation and Pegs Creek substation?
(4) Were the power cables that were replaced
in the process of the PUPP of greater power capacity than those previously used
in the overhead system?
(5) If yes to (1), is it normal practice to bill the community for
regional power upgrades?
(6) If no to (1), who financed the voltage upgrade?
