I
refer to the Monkey Mia Reserve Management Plan and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the various bodies
involved in managing the reserve (originally implemented in 1996 and intended
to be in place until 2006), and I ask: (a) has
a replacement Management Plan been finalised; (b) if no to (a), when does the Minister anticipate it
will be finalised; (c) if yes to (a), will the Minister please table the Management Plan; (d) has an updated MOU been finalised; (e) if no to (d), when does the Minister anticipate that it will be finalised; and (f) if yes to (d), will the Minister please table the MOU?

The question relates to two different reserves in Monkey Mia:
1) Monkey Mia reserve (Reserve 1686) is jointly managed by the Shire of Shark Bay and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) through a Deed of Agreement. There is no management plan for Reserve 1686.
2) The Monkey Mia foreshore to high water mark is within the Shark Bay Marine Park. There is a management plan for the Shark Bay Marine Park; Shark Bay Marine Reserves Management Plan 1996-2006 .
(a)-(c)  Management plans under the Conservation and Land Management Act 1984 , unless revoked, remain in force until a new plan is approved. The Shark Bay Marine Reserves Management Plan 1996-2006 therefore remains in force. It is anticipated that management planning for conservation reserves in Shark Bay will be undertaken as part of the Plan for Our Parks initiative. Approved management plans are available on the DBCA website.
(d)-(f)  There is a Deed of Agreement in place between the Shire of Shark Bay and DBCA for the management of the jointly managed Monkey Mia reserve (Reserve 1686). The Deed of Agreement has not been updated.
