I refer to WorkSafe, and I ask as at 30 June 2013: (a) how many WorkSafe full time equivalent employees (FTE) were allocated to inspections and investigations of workplaces and/or accidents; (b) where were each of the FTE in (a) located; (c) how many of these positions were vacant; (d) where were the vacant positions located; (e) of the FTE in (a), how many were: (i) ongoing public sector employees; and (ii) employed under fixed-term contracts; (f) for each of those employed under contract, what is the term of their contract; (g) how many of the FTE positions in (a), are specialist positions in which the inspector/investigator is required to have the expertise to investigate specific types of worksites; and (h) for each of the FTE in (g): (i) what is the specialist area; (ii) where is the position located; and (iii) which, if any, were vacant?

The four officers on contracts at this time have been appointed substantively and WorkSafe has no inspectors on contract.
(g) WorkSafe has 13 specialist inspector positions. The specialist inspector positions relate to particular hazards or qualifications. These hazards may be common to different types of workplaces and are not limited to specific types of worksites.
(h) (i) Human Factors and Ergonomics Branch - 5 FTE, Occupation Hygiene and Noise Control Branch - 5 FTE, and Plant and Engineering Branch - 3 FTE.
(ii) The specialist inspector positions are located in the metropolitan office. The specialist inspectors also undertake activities in regional areas as required.
(iii) Nil.
