COURTS —
AVAILABILITY
883. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to my questions without
notice 74 and 162 of 11 and 26 May 2021 respectively, and question on notice
144 of 27 May 2021, regarding the urgent need for new courts for criminal
trials and the subsequent roundtable meeting the Attorney General attended on
18 May 2021.
(1) Given that
this meeting took place around 17 months ago, will the Attorney General table
the two most recent briefing notes or similar documents he has received addressing
this urgent matter?
(2) If not, will the Attorney General undertake to
comply with section 82 of the Financial Management Act 2006?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer is based on information provided to me by
the Attorney General.
(1)–(2) As
the member was previously advised, briefing materials prepared in relation to
new court infrastructure will form the basis of a submission to cabinet. The
Attorney General will make public the McGowan government's position on
this important issue in due course.
