(2) 31 October 2002 (3) The Government and Western Power are firmly committed to the development of the renewable energy sector in Western Australia, which includes future large scale wind energy projects. These are important to Western Power meeting its Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) obligations. In addition, Western Power has commenced a public procurement process to acquire 90,000 RECs from the private sector. The Minister for Energy will advise the House when a decision on this project has been made.
