NORTH WEST COASTAL
HIGHWAY — UPGRADES
803. Hon RICK MAZZA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the preferred alignment
for the proposed Dongara–Northampton road corridor.
(1) How close is
Main Roads to selecting a preferred alignment for the proposed Dongara–Northampton
road corridor?
(2) What is the Department of Transport doing to
improve the safety of the existing North West Coastal Highway?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The alignment selection study
is expected to be completed by mid-2020.
(2) In October last year, Main Roads completed a $4.4
million upgrade to the Hosken Street–North West Coastal Highway
intersection near Bluff Point. The agency is investigating a number of options
to improve efficiency and safety on North West Coastal Highway within the
Geraldton town site, including upgrading the section of highway between Place
Road and Webberton Road, including the two intersections, and modifications to
the Eighth Street and Phelps Street intersections with the highway.
