PUBLIC SECTOR RECRUITMENT FREEZE — MINISTER
FOR AGRICULTURE AND FOOD'S LETTER
140. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Treasurer:
I ask a supplementary question. Just
so the Treasurer is aware, the Minister for Agriculture and Food said —
There is currently a high number of
vacancies and this is impacting negatively on service delivery, increasing
the risk of regulatory failure and inhibiting DAFWA's ability to
respond to livestock biosecurity and welfare incidents ...
I ask again: is Minister Baston
correct that the Treasurer's freeze on those jobs in agriculture is
jeopardising our agricultural industry?

AnswerView source ↗

The Leader of the Opposition should
ask him or have his people ask him. I reiterate —
Mr
F.M. Logan : He sent you a letter.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : He has sent me a letter, and we have addressed it. The Leader
of the Opposition is failing to understand or jumping to the conclusion that I have
not responded in any way. We have approved some of them. Also, we have made
decisions that avoid any risk to biosecurity or export from the agricultural
sector.
