(a) outline the role of this unit;
(b) inform the house when staff members Frank Wright and Peter Beck were employed; and
(c) outline the process followed in employing each of these staff members and their duties within the Government Secretariat Unit?

(a)In discussion between the Office of the Premier and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the role of the Government Secretariat was based on:
· Support and liaison with government members of parliament,
· Coordination of media projects and activities as required, and
· Liaison with the Premier's and Ministerial Offices.
(b) Frank Wright commenced on 30 March 2005. Peter Peck (not Beck) commenced on 23 September 2008.
(c) Both officers are employed in accordance with s68 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 as a term of government employee. Mr Wright is employed as a Strategic Communications Adviser. Mr Peck is employed as a Senior Media Adviser.
