POLICE —
COMPLAINT AGAINST — ''ANNABEL''
1057. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to articles on the front
page of The West Australian on 31 May and 26 August 2024 on police
action in relation to an official complaint made by ''Annabel''
about her treatment by WA Police.
(1) Was the
ex-husband present in the house he and ''Annabel'' resided in on
the night referred to in ''Annabel's'' complaints of
police inaction or was the ex-husband in Perth and nowhere near the house?
(2) Can the
minister confirm that the ex-husband, about whom the allegations were made, is
a paraplegic in a wheelchair?
(3) Did ''Annabel''
request that police remove the ex-husband's parents, who were living in
a caravan on the property and acting as carers for the paraplegic ex-husband?
(4) Did the
attending police refuse to be drawn into taking sides or giving advantage in a family
law dispute, and are WA police now considering discipling, sanctioning or
dismissing any officer for refusing to evict the parents, for refusing to take
sides or for other reasons; and, if the latter, for what reasons?
(5) Has the media coverage given to
this incident driven police to such action?
